PostSubject: please help!   April 9th 2010, 13:00

i recently got a new computer from a good friend of mine, and i noticed this "GIGABYTE Technology" thing, I don't know what it is, but i have turned the knob to the lowest RPM (1700) it makes my computer much more quiet. right now its around 2850 RPM and it extremely loud.
I was wondering if i keep it at 1700 if it will slow anything down? performance wise, with gaming, browsing, etc.
here's a picture of it-

ya, its not standard with the mobo, its some add on the person who built it put in there to control fan speed, atleast that's what i looks like to me. look in your applications, im sure there is some GUI that will let you look at the changes it makes. it gets louder when you turn it up because what ever fan its controlling is spinning faster
