What do you guys think? I may do this soon. That way we can BF3/BF4 together! Unless y'all are buying PS4's then I will too.

Mac has a gaming community? Since when lol! I won't start over with Valve. Playstation and Xbox have such huge libraries now. And the ps4 graphics are another leap forward, better than my current home computer. It's a no-brainier. But this gaming PC's price has me interested because my current computer need replaced and the price is right. The PC market is in the dumpster because of tablets and the fact that current pc's are so reliable and fast, who needs another one? Other than holdouts like me. I've the same computer that was midrange strength made for HL2DM years ago.

Steam now has games available for Windows, Mac, and most recently Linux. I used to bash Valve because of Steam's quirks, but over the years they've polished it up nicely and I can't complain at all.

I like consoles for certain things (racing games, sports, etc.), but for FPS games I need a mouse. I know online PC gaming has it's downfalls (like hax), but over the years I learned to just live with the minor annoyances and have fun with the games anyway. Plus, I've noticed that PC games have a much faster decline in price. Up until this year, I've only bought games through Steam that were on sale during holiday or summer sales. You can pick up games during sales that are only 6 months old for 10-20% of the original price. I've got games in my library right now that I've never played, but couldn't pass up the deal because of how cheap they were.
The flexibility of PC gaming is so much better too. There are so many free mods for games now that it's crazy. DayZ, a mod for Arma II, is really popular right now. When BF3 starts to lose it's fun I'm going to give it a shot.

As far as that PC goes, that's not a bad build for 600 bucks. Putting together your own machine is a satisfying feeling. It's something you built, and then you get to use it to do something you enjoy. There are probably better builds out there if you're looking to build your own machine, but there's also a few companies that have some nice built to order machines for some good prices too:

http://www.ibuypower.com
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com

There are other companies, but those are the first two that spring to mind. Grain's bought a couple computers from them (not sure which one of those two sites), and he's had good luck with both.

I'll scout around for some PC builds that might be right for you. I'm a little rusty, but I'll do what I can. Despite New Guy being giant flaming homo nigger faggot, he's pretty handy in that area too so maybe, just maybe, he could lend a hand.

No, New Guy, you can't pics of my butt.

Yeah, I ordered my current rig from ibuypower. It was about $1200 at the time (which was at least 4, probably 5 years ago) and I haven't had ANY problems with it. Literally none. I did have to upgrade the graphics card once or twice to ensure that I could get kick ass graphics on every game out there, but I have had this nvidia GTX 570 for awhile and it's still a beast. I also upgraded the RAM and the CPU cooling last summer. Other than that, $1200 for 5+ years of gaming, design, video rendering, and 3D modelling and rendering is really good. I'll probably be buying a new super ridiculous rig after my last year of school (which is next year) and then keeping this old dog at home as a secondary gaming rig.

The only problem that I had with ibuypower was that the wiring is horrendous. I even paid the extra bullshit money for "professional wiring" but it still looks like a massive funnel cake back there. But hey, I haven't had any problems with it so whatever!

I paid about $1200. laptop was a good choice for me right now because I don't get into my office where my desktop PC is. I can put the laptop out in the living room and jump on when I can. games look better on the laptop then they do on my desktop.

edit: also its good for travel. I can take it anywhere I go.

PostSubject: Re: Gaming computer for $600.00   July 12th 2013, 20:06

Yo garret, I may have a solution fer yah! ( if you're still interested)

Due to ASUS making a RMA error - they have sent me a "Rampage IV: Extreme" and not a replacement for a Rampage III.
Since the motherboards use different architectures, I will need to buy a new CPU in order to use the replacement Rampage 4.
I would also buy new ram for the 4 channel memory-architecture present in my new board.

1.) As a result, I am looking to sell my current CPU:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5719283
It would be with full retail accessories (including its stock fan, which is unused)

2.) My old ram for the Triple Channel Core-i7 930 (LGA 1366 socket)
http://shoppingshopping.com.au/Memory/G.Skill-DDR3-2000-6GB-Tri-Channel-Ripjaws-F3-16000CL9T-6GBRHD-GS-F3-16000CL9T-6GBRHD-p1p-17828-62.aspx
(My accompanying fan is different though.)

3.) My old, used but like-new Computer case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129058

4.) My spare 1000w power supply: (An unused, new, RMA replacement)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121068

A for those 4 components - I must sell them.
But a 1366 board, a VGA (video card,) and a Storage device (SSD or HDD) would be needed.

1.) As for the Board:
I would also pay for and deliver a LGA 1366 motherboard:
http://pcdirect.com//msix5coi713m1.html?gclid=CPfY-IyUq7gCFcKZ4AodNzUA7w

2.) As for the VGA, I have 2x EVGA GTX 570 video cards:
http://www.evga.com/articles/00596/
I would be willing to sell each one for about 100$ a piece.
A single one would "rape" 1080p gaming @ 60hz - my display is 120Hz (direct, not upscaled like a HDTV.)
You may want to find another solution on the greater market.

3.) As for a storage device, I do not have a solution for that myself. I currently use 2 drives @ 1 Terabyte of space.
For fast performance while sacrificing space, you would look to get a Solid State Drive (SSD)
For good, reliable, space, I would get a 500gb - 1TB hard disk drive (HDD) for 40-60$ total.

Do message me if you have any questions.
My contact info:
Cell = 240-426-9951
Email = shughe31@gmail.com

Thank you for considering.

Unfortunately, you took a bit to reply (gimme ur email perhaps?) so I threw the offer Nino's way and he may take it.

Then again, he may not - but yes, I would assemble it; because obviously, one, single, heavy box is easier for me to ship than 5 boxes (one being a heavy-ish PC case.)
So at no extra charge, I will assemble for yah!

I'll post the detailed email I sent nino here - again, idk if he will take it with his kid and all going on...

Here :

What I am thinking on price (all negotiable)
CPU :: Core i7 930 (quad core) 2.8Ghz ---------------------> $ 90.00
RAM :: g.skill Ripjaws 6GB 2000Mhz -------------------------> $ 40.00
case :: Antec 900-two Mid-Tower (w/all optional fans)------> $ 40.00
PSU :: Kingwin Lazer 1000 watts ---------------------------> $ 75.00
Mobo :: (New/sealed) MSI X58A-GD45 Core i7 1366 ------> $ 120.00

Total :: ------------------------------------------------> $ 365.00

Optional...
VGA :: My used EVGA GTX 570 (2) graphics cards-----> $ 95.00 each
I also have a used Corsair h50 CPU cooler - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010
But, the CPU comes with a stock fan that has never been used. My h50 is an earlier model than what is listed above.
I would ask for another $30-35.00 to throw this rather effective cooler in. (idk if you overclock though)

You would still need a HDD/SSD or hard drive solution, but I can help you with that as well if need be.

EDIT:: I should also note, that it will come with windows 7: ultimate for free
(it was free for me, but shhhhhhhh microsoft has ninjas and NSA)

Would I need both video cards to run BF3 or 4? Or would a single one do? Would I be able to upgrade graphics cards if needed or would that require a new mobo? And yes, I need a hard drive. Do you suggest some options? Size/speed/cost etc. I'm VERY interested in this TNG. I think we can work something out if Niño falls through. Sorry I did t get back with you quick enough.

By the way, would the two graphics cards put me in position to not have to upgrade for a while I'd consider it. Unless you think that a new card would plug in directly at about the same cost for better graphics. I'm out of the PC loop as you can tell, so I'm trusting your opinion in the matter. Thanks.

To answer your question about BF3-4 - depends on your display.

If you monitor is the normal 60Hz refresh rate (meaning the max fps you can actually "see" is 1-60fps) than one card could do 45-60 fps with max settings on.
If you got both, and played with 60-75Hz monitor, you would be max all the time unless your anti-aliasing was over 8xQ CSAA.

570's are damn good for PCI_E 2.0 boards.
I run a 120Mhz monitor, so I needed two cards to occasionally max that out.

However, as for the latest cards are on a PCI_e 3.0 bus, in practice they can't even max out the PCI_E 2.2 bandwidth.
You would not need to upgrade your board to use a new card, such as a Dual-Core 690.
Loading textures would be faster on a 3.0 bus, but active FPS doesn't change much at all.

If you only want one card, that is perfectly fine - I can always get Alex to buy the other 570 (he already has one of his own.)

Again, it is based on what your Monitor/Display can show you.

Maxing your refresh rate all the time is the experience you are looking for, and that goes for everyone.
At 60Hz (again,) two 570's would rape it hard. Over 75Hz - I would not be so sure. (For using *maximum* settings in games that is.)

So yes, my opinion would bb that at a more common Refresh Rate and at 1080p resolution - you would be set for a long while if you bought both cards.

If you try and enter the 4k (4 x 1080p) party - which the native resolutions of the new consoles - you might have some issue.

Sorry for those posts being worded all weird, I am changing gears a lot and talking to a bunch of peeps at same time.

I went back and fixed them.

I will also link Nino to this thread and hopefully he will post if he is taking the deal or not.

Regardless, thank you both for being interested.

The uber-fast SSD's (solid state drives, or HDD-like RAM) will be like $400 for as little space as 512mb

Hard-Disk drives, the older tech you have dealt with before, has become really reliable and cheap.
I currently run two 1_Terabyte drives in a Stripped 0-Raid Array. It works very well for me.

A good SSD (500GB) :: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147190

A solid HDD choice :: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840
Another Solid HDD :: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339

I will run this thread by my Tech-Savvy guy (who I have also been pestering to join EE) named KILLER_K.

Hopefully he will drop some knowledge.

No, but I ran them on the same architecture.

I ran a ASUS Rampage 3 : Extreme - and now they sent me a Rampage 4 as a replacement and that is why all this is going down.
I already bought a new CPU and RAM, so I'll be fine regardless of what you guys decide.

As for the board :: http://pcdirect.com//msix5coi713m1.html?gclid=CPfY-IyUq7gCFcKZ4AodNzUA7w
If you look at the specs it says it has this ::
Slots
• 2 PCI Express gen2 x16 slots

--> That means if you use one card on PCI_e 1 and the other on PCI_e 3 (could be PCI_e 2 - has to be on the next PCI_e bus channel,) you will have them at the max 16x bandwidth.
So, you are good to go for 2x card SLI - but not 3xSLI.

And you won't need a soundcard, as the integrated audio is the same as mine and this Generation of RealTek rapes ::
Audio
• Chipset integrated by Realtek® ALC892
- Flexible 8-channel audio with jack sensing

I do hope Kenny (KILLER_K) pops in to validate my findings Razz
